ABOUT THE FORT WORTH PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION

History:

The FWPA began in 1982.

Code of Ethics:

All FWPA members, by applying for membership, adopt as a guideline for professional conduct the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas.

Definition of Paralegal:

FWPA, for its purposes, uses the terms "paralegal" as defined by the American Bar Association in March 2020, ABA's Resolution 120B. "A paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governemental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."

Classes of Members:

FWPA has eight (8) classes of members which include Voting Members, Freelance Members, Sustaining Members, Emeritus Members, Student Members, Associate Members, Patron Members and Law Firm Members. Please contact our Membership Chair for information concerning requirements for membership in the Association.
