ABOUT THE FORT WORTH PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION

History: The FWPA began in 1982.

Code of Ethics:

All FWPA members, by applying for membership, adopt as a guideline for professional conduct the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas.

Definition of Paralegal:

FWPA, for its purposes, uses the terms "paralegal" as defined by the American Bar Association in March 2020, ABA's Resolution 120B. "A paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training, or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible."

Classes of Members:

FWPA has eight (8) classes of members which include Voting Members, Freelance Members, Sustaining Members, Emeritus Members, Student Members, Associate Members, Patron Members and Law Firm Members.
